Delaware ADR Logo & Brand Design

In 2021, retired judge Andrea Rocanelli started her business, Delaware ADR, where she serves as a professional neutral. ADR or “Alternate Dispute Resolutions” provides people with legal solutions without the burden and stress of going to court. Andrea knew she wanted a logo, stationery, and a website to get her business started and asked me for my help.

After initially meeting with Andrea there were some key words that we wanted the brand to evoke through the designs;

Trust:
firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.

Judgment:
the ability to make considered decisions or come to sensible conclusions.

Credibility:
the quality of being trusted and believed in.

Discretion:
the quality of behaving or speaking in such a way as to avoid causing offense or revealing private information.

Neutral:
not helping or supporting either side in a conflict, disagreement, etc.; impartial.

Delaware ADR’s main audience would mainly consist of other lawyers with cases pending. Since anyone seeing the logo would already be familiar with ADR, it wasn’t crucial the logo screamed “legal,” plus we wanted to stay away from the cliches like a justice scale or a mallet.

Many cultures believe that cardinals are loved ones who have passed, visiting you in this life. Andrea was moved by this symbolism and wanted to feature a cardinal in the logo. Once the Cardinal was decided, the color palette was a breeze, we went with neutral colors, a khaki tan and charcoal black with a strong cardinal red to ground the brand and evoke Andrea’s confidence. At the request of Andrea and her team, I put together the website in Squarespace so they could easily go in and update information when needed.

Throughout the years, as Delaware ADR has grown, Andrea has come to me for print ads, linkedin announcements, event posters, invites, zoom backgrounds, and lots of swag. It has been a pleasure to work on this incredible brand that helps others through mediation and arbitration.
